Trucks are everywhere and play a vital role in our nation's
commerce system. Without them, goods would not be able to reach stores,
and people would not be able to obtain the items they need for daily
life. Trucks also bring materials to jobsites, remove materials from
homes and businesses, and assist with a wide range of services. Because
of their important function, and because of their size, there have been a
number of laws, rules, and guidelines put into place to protect the
public who regularly make use of roadways.
Even with these guidelines, rules, and laws, there are still a large number of trucks on the road who are operating illegally, or who have cargo loads that are not properly secured. This puts the public in danger because the cargo can break loose or fall off of many different types of trucks such as box trucks, tractor trailers, eighteen wheelers, flatbed trucks, dump trucks, and a large variety of other commercial vehicles. This places a host of obstacles in the road which can lead to accidents and injuries that can seriously injure or even kill drivers and passengers. In addition to being unsecured, cargo loads can also be improperly balanced, which can cause them to shift leading to poor braking, rollovers, and serious crashes on the nation's roadways.
